Luck of the Irish
October 18, 2024
Welcome to the final day of promoting my latest release - Time for Love. I’ve been working on this collection for about four years. The romantic collection has twenty short stories - ten about how a couple got engaged and ten about how a couple met. The last story I’m going to talk about is Luck of the Irish, a short story taking place on St. Patrick’s Day 2010.
Kat, who likes to tell people she majored in sarcasm and art, always celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with her brother and sister. This year, her sister picked the bar. Tanner knew of Kat when they both attended Suffolk University. When he stops at his brother’s bar for a quick St. Patrick’s Day beer, his old college crush happens to be sitting next to a recently vacated seat. What happens next? You’ll have to read the 10th story in the collection to find out.
How does this story relate to other stories in the gagengirl universe?
I have a lot of characters in Boston. I could list them all, but I think I’ll stick with the ones who actually appear in the story. Kat’s sister Sam was briefly mentioned in Just a Kiss, as being married to Susanne McCallum’s mom’s ex-fiancé. When I decided this story would be set in Boston, I picked Sam to be one of the characters. I gave her a younger brother and sister. And her little sister became the female lead.
What can you share about Kat?
Katherine Rose Gagen is more me than a lot of my main characters. She is my favorite female lead in this collection. Her last name is the same as my pen name. She has my sarcasm and passion to create. She’s a self-published author.
And what can you share about Tanner?
Tanner wanted to be an artist, but decided he needed a stable job. So he became a website designer. And then he took up wood carving.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about this story?
It’s a romance, the story of how Kat and Tanner met. This is one of my favorites because Kat is so much like me. It’s the last story I wrote for the collection.
So what is next?
I will continue to promote Time for Love over the next few weeks. And then I’ll return to working on my ghost story collection. I have four of the 13 written so far and I absolutely love them.
